Between Facebook, texts, classes and work, it’s easy to live with a person i.e. your brothers and sisters, and still not notice them.
That’s too bad, because your siblings have a life-time invested interest in your well-being. And, you in theirs. It’s too easy to zip down the halls, and dash out the door and not see your sister is having issues with her boyfriend, or your brother is not feeling well. Take a few moments each day and make the effort to talk to your siblings about things that are going on. You may be the only person they can trust with a tough situation. And vice versa. Just a 20-30 minute talk can do wonders to improve your familial relationships.
And do better than that. Why not take at least a full day out of the week, to enjoy each other?
Sunday is usually a good day to pick. Find activities the entire family enjoys and go for it. At times, you might feel as though you’re missing something, like the frat party of the year, but in time you’ll see you’re gaining a whole lot more.
Encourage each other. After all, since you get a front row seat for each other’s lives. Get in the habit of becoming each other’s cheerleader. Life is full of ups and downs. Your friends will be in and out of your lives, but if you develop a strong family relationship, then they’ll always be there for you to lean on.
