It’s nice to report that there are many inexpensive remedies to alleviate common problems. And here’s the best part, most of these solutions are probably already in your home.
Got Bad Odor? Look in your cabinet for Baking Soda. Baking Soda kills odor-causing bacteria that not only lurk on damp skin, but on floors and in the frig. Also, remember when the heat and humidity soar, baking soda can be your go-to solution to fight sweaty odors for up to 24 hours. Mix a tablespoon with water to make a paste. Use this to scrub living spaces, your underarms, feet, and other smelly areas.
Varicose Veins? It’s not magic, but witch hazel can do wonders. Dab witch hazel on varicose veins a couple of times a day to reduce the appearance of those puffy veins. Witch hazel is an astringent, which is loaded with anti-inflammatory compounds that helps shrink veins and reduce the dark red color.
Feeling blue? Soak up “the Yellow!” Head outside and enjoy the beams. Exposure to sunlight has been shown to help people prevent weight gain and insomnia. Best of all, people with sufficient levels of Vitamin D, are 154% less likely to feel down. Dr. Michael Holick, author of The Vitamin D Solution says Vitamin D raises levels of mood-boosting serotonin and boosts the production of feel-good endorphins. Don’t forget the sunscreen.
Do hunger pains interfere with your diet? Drink more milk. Researchers found that a diet rich in casein, a protein in milk, slows the rate of digestion and makes you feel full. It’ll keep you feeling full for up to four hours. That should hold you until your next mealtime.
Do you have a slow metabolism? Drink more H2O. A big secret to burning fat all day long is drinking at least 64 to 80 ounces of water each day. Researchers discovered that drinking two glasses of water raises metabolic rate by 30% for up to an hour. And if you really want to rev it up– drink cold water! Your body will burn even more calories heating the water up to body temperature.
